Our commitment to you

As of July 2010, Queensland Urban Utilities provides water and wastewater services to the cities and townships of Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset

More than one million Brisbane residents have already been receiving these services from Queensland Urban Utilities as a division of Brisbane City Council, since November 2009. All five councils are working together to form the new business.

We are committed to continuing to provide you, our customer, with the highest level of water and wastewater services.

Water quality

  • Queensland Urban Utilities strives to deliver drinking water of a very high quality.
  • Our water meets the water quality criteria of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Metering

  • Properties require a Council-approved water meter to ensure water use is charged accurately.
  • Meters are read according to a fixed schedule to maintain consistency of reading periods.

Water services

  • We aim to provide and maintain a permanent and reliable supply of water to customers.
  • We endeavour to restore water supply in the shortest possible time should unplanned service interruptions or emergencies such as a burst water main occur. Our priority is to minimise inconvenience to affected customers.

Wastewater services

  • We will operate and maintain extensive infrastructure and endeavour to provide the highest level of wastewater services to ensure public health and environmental protection.

Service connections

  • We are committed to providing water and wastewater connections to your property in a timely and cost-effective way.

Billing customers

  • In January 2010, Brisbane ratepayers received aseparate water and sewerage account from Queensland Urban Utilities.
  • Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset Council customers will receive their new water and sewerage account from Queensland Urban Utilities from July 2010. 
  • Queensland Urban Utilities remained a division of Brisbane City Council until July 2010 when the new water business became jointly owned by all five councils.

Brisbane City Council region was the first region to supply water and wastewater services to its residents and businesses under the Queensland Urban Utilities name. Brisbane customers have received the highest standards of customer service, with Queensland Urban Utilities continuing to adhere to the Brisbane City Council customer service standards.
