Classes of recycled water

Class A

This is the highest quality of recycled water supplied by Queensland Urban Utilities . A tertiary treatment process combined with pathogen removal is required to produce water of this quality.

Availability

Class A is available in Brisbane and in limited supply in Ipswich.

Uses

Recycled water of this quality has a wide range of uses including,:

• process/cooling water for industry,
• fire protection stores and reticulation systems,
• irrigation of municipal parks, sportsgrounds and food crops that are consumed raw or sold to consumers uncooked or processed.

Class B

A secondary treatment process, combined with pathogen reduction is used to produce water of this quality.

Class B water is currently available from Ipswich,

Uses

Recycled water of this quality has a wide range of uses including,:

• landscape irrigation,
• sub-grade moisture correction,
• dust suppression
• limited industrial and agricultural applications.

Class C

A secondary treatment process combined with minor pathogen reduction is used to produce water of this quality.

Availability

Class C water is currently available in Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Scenic Rim

Uses

Recycled water of this quality has a wide range of uses including,:

• landscape irrigation,
• civil works,
• sub-grade moisture correction,
• dust suppression,
• limited agricultural and industrial applications.
