WEMP Cancellation Program
The Queensland Water Commission has introduced changes to the Water Act 2000 (section 360ZCKA) and to the Water Regulation 2002 (sections 52AA and 52AB). These changes permit the cancellation of a Water Efficiency Management Plan (WEMP), where the specific requirements no longer apply. Prior to these legislative changes, there was no provision allowing a WEMP to be cancelled.
To be eligible to apply for WEMP Cancellation, one or more of the following criteria must be met:
- The quantity of water use at the premises has been:
- less than 10 megalitres (ML) a year for at least one year immediately before the application for cancellation is made: and
- is not likely to exceed 10ML a year in the future; or
- The business is no longer:
- operating as a nursery, turf farm or market garden; or
- operating a public swimming pool; or
- operating a colling tower; or
- irrigating an area greater than 500m2

You will still be bound by the requirements of the current level water restrictions which apply to your property.
