Diving safely at Queensland Urban utilities applies to everyone, and in real terms it means that:
  • where installed, seatbelts are worn by all vehicle occupants,
  • all vehicles and mobile plant are operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and for their intended purpose,
  • drivers and operators are certified, competent, licensed or authorised, and medically fit to operate the class of vehicle or plant,
  • the number of passengers never exceeds the design specification for a given vehicle,
  • there is an appropriate service and check procedure in place and the vehicle is confirmed to be in safe working order,
  • all damage is reported at the time of incident/accident or when identified,
  • all equipment and loads are stowed or secured to the vehicle, doors closed and latched (where appropriate) before operating the vehicle,
  • drivers and operators are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs and are not suffering from fatigue,
  • drivers and operators do not operate mobile phones, laptop computers, hand held radios, navigational devices or any other communication devices while the vehicle or plant is in motion,  
  • log books and daily inspections are conducted prior to operating any vehicle or plant, and
  • no vehicle or plant is operated where there is a known fault or if it is past it's service date (unless authorised by the Queensland Urban Utilities fleet controller).
