Our new app lets you ‘track-a-poo' through SEQ’s wastewater network
April Fool’s!
Did we fool you?
Sadly, there’s no new app that lets you track-a-poo as it travels down through our pipes to our treatment plants.
However, here’s something real: 125 billion litres of wastewater travelled through our 10,000-kilometre network last year!
Our people work hard to make sure our pipes and pumps can handle the flow, and it’s all treated to a high standard before we safely return it to our waterways.
Here are a few other things we’ve been working hard on (instead of building poo tracking apps).
In 2023,
- We delivered 133 billion litres of world-class drinking water for our communities right across our region.
- We read 2.25 million water meters, analysed 123,850 drinking water quality tests, and approved 2,323 water applications to deliver safe, efficient water services for our community.
- We kicked off a $32 million upgrade to wastewater infrasctructure in the Lockyer Valley.
- We began a $45 million upgrade on our sewer main in Breakfast Creek.
- We generated 12,610 MwH from cogeneration (the process that turns wastewater into electricity) - 13.2 of our total electricity use!
- The first koalas moved into our drought-proof forest in Helidon, two years earlier than expected!
- We've uncovered a way to naturally treat wastewater five times faster than before using algae-based technology.
- We reached 14,720 students and community members through our education program.
Time well spent, we think!
