If you are moving house, a balance enquiry is generally undertaken before the settlement of the property sale.
An online balance enquiry provides information on account charges up to the date of the most recent billed period of the account. It is important to note that it does not include any other outstanding amounts outside of this billing period.
An online balance enquiry does not provide exact charges. To determine exact charges for the seller and purchaser, we recommend you request a special water meter read prior to settlement.

Any reliance you place on such information is strictly at your own risk. Queensland Urban Utilities takes no responsibility for, and will not be liable for your use of information obtained through this service.
If you require more current consumption information for any reasons (including without limitation property settlement purposes), a special water meter reading should be obtained.
In no event will Queensland Urban Utilities be liable for any loss or damage including without limitation, any indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of profit or loss of profits arising from or in connection with the use of this service and any information obtained through it or because this service is temporarily unavailable for any reason.
An online water balance enquiry provides the following information only:
- customer name and property information
- current services applied to property
- the prior billed issue date, prior billed balance and prior billed outstanding balance
- four previous quarterly water meter readings.
Personal information and warranty
Information obtained through this service includes personal information about customers. If you are not the customer to which an online water balance enquiry relates, the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) requires you to have the customer’s prior consent or authorisation to make the enquiry. This includes solicitors acting on behalf of sellers or buyers and persons acting under powers of attorney on behalf of customers.
By continuing to use this service, you warrant that you have the relevant customer’s consent or authorisation to obtain information relating to the customer and that you will take all reasonable steps to protect and keep secure all personal information of the customer that is obtained through your use of this service.
